Tham Phra Phutthabat Pang Daeng - CM0171
19.346176,99.025126
Location
The monk's campsite is 7 km east of Ban Chiang Dao in the village of Ban Pang Daeng. The cave is in the isolated limestone hill near the school.
Description
The cave is not much more than an enlarged rock shelter. In 2009 the cave was described as just being an entrance porch has a Buddha statue with a way on to the left. In March 2012 a huge temple was being built over the entrance and a lot of fill had been removed from the rock shelter. This work was ongoing in 2016, but by 2019 the monk appears to have been evicted, but the unfinished building remained. In 2019 the cave had been excavated to a second entrance on up on the left, which also had the start of a building over it. Tournier reports that there is also a shaft nearby, about 20 m deep, with a continuation, but it has not been descended.
