SAHSIER, Khahnar (Krem)

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a cave called Krem Sahsier (Kharpran Daly, B D 2012.02.09 personal communication with Lius Manar, then the Khahnar village headman, and Mathias Dkhar, the Khahnar village secretary). ETYMOLOGY: The origin, history and meaning of the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) cave name Krem Sahsniang (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc) has not yet been discovered. It seems to refer to the abode (note 1) of dear (Cervidae, several genera and many species), a hoofed grazing or browsing animal, with branched bony antlers that are shed annually and typically borne only by the male (note 2). SITUATION: Unknown.
