Description
The shakehole / collapse doline called Krem Wah Mupud is characterised by a boulder choke at one end and a small dry stream entering the other. ETYMOLOGY: The Synteng -mupud- means boundary stone (Ware & Bayley 2002.02.23 Mss).SITUATION 1 (Ware 2002.02.23 Mss: Krem Wah Sohniriang II, with location sketch): Krem Wah Mupud lies sort of diagonally across (without identified distance or direction) the cave entrance to Krem –>Sohniriang 2 together with which it suffers sharing one and the same low precision GPS position. SITUATION 2: At an obscure location in jungle (guide required) on the eastern side of the Shnongrim Ridge and south-east of Mr. Carlyn Phyrngap's house (near N25°20'23.5-: E92°30'03.1-) on the left hand side of the road running either from (?) or to (?) the village of Shnongrim. CAVE DESCRIPTION: The boulders could be descended for about 4 m but look unstable. At the stream end, a short drop entered approximately 40 m of cave passage (2 m wide and high) with pools onfloor and stal (speleothems). Ended in blocked passage with daylight visible. At start of passage, 2 m climb down leads to clean washed passage (1 m wide, 2.5 m high, triangular in cross section) with good, cold air draught from continuation blocked by boulders. PROSPECTS: Without obvious way on but blockage could be easily moved or negotiated by a small person whilst a droll stone louse (Lithophaga lorioti PSYREMBEL) could easily turn the blocking boulders into a few remnant crumbles.
