KHADAWSO (Arbenz 2012) (Krem)

Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was said to give access to a cave called Krem Khadawso (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc after Kharpran Daly, B D 2012.02.09 personal communication with Lius Manar, then the Khahnar village headman, and Mathias Dkhar, the Khahnar village secretary). ETYMOLOGY: The origin, history and meaning of the recorded cave name Krem Khadawso was found to be obscured by the fog created for the abode of clouds. It seems likely that the strange -khadaw- is a corruption of the Khasi word -khadar- or -khatar- for the cardinal number twelve (note 1) but -so- as such is difficult to reconstruct (note 2). SITUATION: At an unknown location and in an unspecified setting. Since the cave name was mentioned by a Khahnar village headman, the entrance to this cave may be found somewhere in the vicinity of the village of Khahnar, where the church dedicated t St. Joseph stands near 25°23'08.3”N: 92°36'08.4”E: 1065 m (Arbenz T 2010.04.28 personal correspondence).
