Description
An estimated 12 by 4 m wide cave entrance to an approximately 12 m deep rift gives acces to sloping mud, pebbles and rocks at bottom. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi cave name -Krem poh Ratap- translates either into Cave below Trap or, perhaps, simply into Cave below a Piece of plaited Bamboo Work protecting the Body from the Impact of a Load when Carrying It (SINGH, N 1906: 171).SITUATION: At an unexplainable location somewhere on the eastern side of the Shnongrim ridge and at a spot that either can be reached by riding clouds or, alternatively but more difficult to accomplish, from the family home of Mr. Carlyn Phyrngap (near N25°20'23.5-: E092°30'03.1-) on road to Shnongrim village. The jungle paths require a guide (Ware & Bayley 2002.02.23 Mss: No Name, Krem Krang 1, Krem Pohradap, No Name). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Pothole — easiest to get down / rift (Ware & Bayley 2002.02.23 Mss). TACKLE: Easy to get into –may require only a handline. PROSPECTS: Worth a look and quite promising (Ware and Bayey 2002.02.23 Mss).
