Description
A flood sink (Jarratt 2004.02.26 Mss) or a spate sink in a large doline without specified size or shape … may be a pothole that takes a vast amount of water during the monsoon but was (on 26/2/04) completely blocked with trees and vegetation (Jarratt 2004.02.26 Mss: Krem Kyordienglieh 1) or by flood debris (Arbenz, T 2004.02 Mss: Abstracts.xls). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi and Synteng -dieng lieh- translates into white [coloured] tree (note 1). Jarratt (2004.02.26 Mss) had recorded the cave name Kyordienglieh (note 2) while Bridget Hall (2009.02.22 Mss) decided to introduce inexplicable Diengleih Caves for little but confusion (note 3).SITUATION 1 (2004.02.26 Mss: Krem Kyordienglieh 1): In cleared cultivated, rock edged doline below jungle filled gully leading down from the doline wherein Krem Ladaw 1 lies. SITUATION 2: According to the recorded GPS position, the 1st Krem Dienglieh lies at a linear distance of 166 m south-west from Krem Ladaw 1 (N25°20'32.4”: E092°29'54.4” WGS84, J. Duxbry 2004.02.26, GPS Garmin Etrex): 1090 m asl (uncalibrated digital wristwatch altimeter, J. Duxbury 2004.02.26).
