Longueur 100m Profondeur 48m
Grottocenter / carte

Location

500 m to the north of Nam Tok stands a rocky outcrop in the center of which is Tham Buddha which is used by monks. From Tham Buddha climb the cliff to the left and after 150 m there is an entrance hidden in the forest. Some hollowed steps in the clay and some household objects show that this cave is also used by monks. Martin Ellis - 16/08/2019

Description

Martin Ellis - 16/08/2019

On entering the cave, the chamber to the left leads to a clay sand bank which may be a pond during the rainy season. On the right is a steep boulder slope down which forms three successive smaller and smaller chambers. The abundance of guano deposits makes the progression delicate at times. The boulder slope ends at -48 m at a narrow passage which evidently continues towards the center of the outcrop, perhaps joining a narrow passage in Tham Buddha, A few black sherds and a polished adze were collected from the cave, the latter now being in the National Museum in Bangkok. This cave has various names: Tham Bol Thasao (Deharveng (1987), Tham Buddha 2 (Ostermann 1988), Namtok Cave 1 (Sorensen 1988).
