Tham Khao Noi - KA0086
14.235384,99.068595
Location
500 m to the north of Nam Tok stands a rocky outcrop in the center of which is Tham Buddha which is used by monks. From Tham Buddha climb the cliff to the left and after 150 m there is an entrance hidden in the forest. Some hollowed steps in the clay and some household objects show that this cave is also used by monks.
Description
On entering the cave, the chamber to the left leads to a clay sand bank which may be a pond during the rainy season. On the right is a steep boulder slope down which forms three successive smaller and smaller chambers. The abundance of guano deposits makes the progression delicate at times. The boulder slope ends at -48 m at a narrow passage which evidently continues towards the center of the outcrop, perhaps joining a narrow passage in Tham Buddha, A few black sherds and a polished adze were collected from the cave, the latter now being in the National Museum in Bangkok. This cave has various names: Tham Bol Thasao (Deharveng (1987), Tham Buddha 2 (Ostermann 1988), Namtok Cave 1 (Sorensen 1988).
