Description
Nothing except a variety of names have become known of a cave in sandstone, which appears to be situated in the vicinity of the Maw Det Khoni, the Rock of the Disliked Mr. Khoni. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi exclamation (interjection) ”det" corresponds to the English »pooh!« or »Tush!« (SINGH, N 1906: 66) and "Khoni" was reported to be a person's name. The "Cave [at the] Rock [associated with the] disliked Mr. Khoni" has been called »Krem Mawdetkhoni«(B. D. Kharpran Daly 1997 personal correspondence ), »Krem Maw Dedkhoni« (ALLISON KOSIOR 2004b: 16) and »Krem Maw Det Khoni or Rock of Disliked Mr. Kohni Cave« (Barbara A. am Ende online: deepcaves.net/India02/ accessed 27.03.2003, 15.05.2003; WARREN 2004: 251; Zawada, W. "Mike" 21.04.2004 Mss). SITUATION: At an unknown location probably somewhere in the vicinity of Maw Det Khoni (Rock of the Disliked Mr. Khoni) on Lum Iawpaw, the hill above Nongnah (schoolhouse 25°15'56.8”N: 91°19'32.9”E: 1017.9 m, unidentified precision error, Scott Linn, undated December 2002, GPS Garmin Etrex). CAVE DESCRIPTION: »A small cave at 328 m« (WARREN 2004: 251).

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1997: Brian D. Kharpran Daly recorded the name of the cave »Krem Mawdetkhoni located at Nongnah (Lum Iawpaw)« (Kharpran Daly, B D 1997.03.13 Mss "Twenty-five caves located" item no. 22). 2002.12: Unspecified members of a caving team, most likely guided by one or several unacknowldged guides, explored "Krem Maw Det Khoni" and surveyed (46 stations, using backsights) an accumulated passage length of 327.6 m at a vertical range of 24.1 m (Barbara am Ende accessed 15.05.2003; Zawada, Mike 21.04.2004 personal correspondence). The possible team members were Stan Allison, Gosia Allison Kosior, Lindsay B. Diengdoh, Shelley A. Diengdoh, Franklyn Tokiwayo "Toki" Dkhar, Barbara Anne am Ende, Paul J.
