Description
A fine example indicating that recent subterranean karstification predates surfacial denudation in the vicinity of the Salang caves is given at the hand of the Krem Salang 3 where some daylighting shafts include a pair of cave entrances (unidentified shape, unidentified orientation (note 1), unidentified peculiar characteristics), of which the north-eastern cave entrance is about 0.7 m wide and 1.5 m high (Hall, B E 2010.02.09 anonymous Mss: Krem Salang 3). Hall interpreted the seasonally active tunnel cave as the relic of a seasonally rejuvenated underground oxbow but actually described a vadose (wet in February 2010) underground shortcut (note 2) of a seasonally active water course (dry in February 2010) with an unidentified flow direction. EVALUATION 2010a: Hall, B E (2010.02.09 anonymous Mss: Krem Salang 3) interpreted the tunnel cave Krem Salang 3 as passage underneath the ridge but mostly noticed only a few aspects of a sports training device where Oxbow [sic! qua: shortcut] of what had been in February 2010 a] dry river which passes underground and makes [sic! qua: allows to perform] a [relatively] short through trip in the course of which adventurers can exercise the negotiation of one single and hence easy to comprehend cave passage that contains still water during the first half of the month of every February in the year 2010. EVALUATION 2010b: Tunnel cave of 45m – which was an underground oxbow to river (Anonymous et al. (2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 9th February). EVALUATION 2010c: Oxbow of dry river which passes underground and makes a short through trip. Contains still water (Arbenz, T 2010.12.15 Mss -Bridget Halll 2010.02.09- Krem Salang 3, 9.2.2010). SITUATION: Not only at an unidentified location but also in an unidentified spatial relation to anything whatsoever. DEVICE DESCRIPTION 2010: The sports training device allows to experience the recreational negotiation of of an underground walking distance where most of the path is water u to depth of 2 to 3 feet [during the first half of February in the year 2010] (Hall, B E 2010.02.09 anonymous Mss: Krem Salang 3). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010: One out of the four known cave entrances is an unspecified the entrance w0.7m x h1.5m to the single passage cave in which most of the passage is water up to 2 or 3 feet deep. It is a passage underneath the arcus, approximately 45 m long. Some daylight shafts in the roof (Arbenz, T 2010.12.15 Mss Bridget Halll 2010.02.09 Krem Salang 3, 9.2.2010). DEVICE DESCRIPTION 2012: Oxbow of dry river which passes underground and makes a short through trip. Contains still water. Most of the passage is in water up to 2 or 3 feet deep. It is a passage underneath the arcus [note 3], approximately 45 m long. Some daylight shafts in the roof (ARBENZ, T 2012: 245). SPELEOMETRY: The lengthwise measured distances collected on 9th February 2010 from the accessible part of Krem Salang 3 (Hall, B E 2010.02.09 anonymous Mss: Krem Salang 3) include 45 Anonymus et al. Histoire
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010.02.09: Bridget E. Hall and the military workers Amulya Prasad Parihar and Roshan Singh Yengkhom pushed a Krem Salang 3 (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc). 2011.10.10: Without ever having been anywhere close to this cave, Thomas Arbenz drew after a lapse of only 20 months a cave plan based on survey data and sketches compiled by somebody else (Arbenz, T 2011.10.10 Salang2&3plan.pdf after Bridget E Hall; Amulya Prasad Parihar & Roshan Singh Yengkhom 2009.02.09) which, for example shows one single cave entrance instead of the known four that are known to give access to this tunnel cave illuminated by two daylighting shafts (anonymous Hall, B E 2010.02.09 Mss: Krem Salang 3).
