Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

At least one unspecified cave entrance, which is characterised not only by unidentified peculiarities combined with an unidentified shape and unidentified dimensions but also by an unidentified orientation, gives access to a couple of unspecified cave passages that either go up, down or both. IDENTITY: Not yet discovered. For sure, it was Derek Pettiglio, who either took part in surveying on 16th February 2010 the Krem Khnai Umkrapong (Brooks, S J 2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls) or not at all (Brooke, H 2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text) but also had discovered the day before, on 15th February 2010, one –>AA Cave (Pettiglio 2010 A), which then was currently known as [sic! qua: dubbed] Krem Wanger in lieu of a –>Wanger Cave. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for this cave, which some associated not only with a bedding plane but also with an unspecified number of unidentified rodents, which instantly were declared to reprsent unheared of cave rats that subsequently were alienated into one Khasi -ka khnai- (note 1). SITUATION: At an unidentified location which probably had been reached by cavers that were in February 2010 encamped on the outskirts of a populated place which Brooks, S J (2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls) called Umkrapong (note 2) but, more likely, is the village of Umkyrpong (25°26'04”N: 92°34'48”E). Additionally, little doubt remains that the location of any Krem Khnai (or so) is not indicated anywhere on the relevant cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf (Arbenz, T 2010.03.31). POSITION: The effective looking GPS position E092 35'09.8- N237.325'5 837, which had been recorded (Brooke, H 2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text) for the cave entrance to Krem Khnai Umkrapong (Brooks, S J et al 2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls) makes no sense. CAVE DESCRIPTION: None reported. Helen Brooke (2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text) recorded having dubbed the urvey series Cave Enterance (sic!), Beauty and the Beast, On Mendip U Would, Wet Nasty Muddy, Roof Meets Floor, and not only last but also least oneBedding Plane With Rats In! complete with a horrible exclamation mark. SPELEOMETRY: According to Helen Brooke (2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text), the cavers H Brooke and Amulya / Sumi compiled not only a total of 16 (sixteen) different survey legs yielding an accumulation of 199.62 m of measured survey leg lengths but also mastered the successful connection of all the five recorded series of survey legs but, unfortunately, in an apparently confused way resulting in a vertical range of ±61.60 m (-45.85 m, +15.75 m). Brooks, S J (2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls) lists 16.02.2010 / Krem Khnai Umkrapong / HB, ES, AP, DP, SUMI / 199.62 / 61.6 (-45.85/+15.75) and takes these numbers for granted. CAVE LIFE: Sandford, E (2010.04.16 Mss: Caves 'n' Corals: 16th February) narrates how she had … checked out … one cave, Krem KhnaiUmkrypong [sic! qua: Umkyrpong] which we saw a rat in [conf. Rodentia] and also found a load of [unidentified] animal bones in … Brooke, H (2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text) bettered Sandford's lone rat into a Bedding Plane With Rats In! complete with an exclamation mark instead of a mouth-watering recipe.urvey series Cave Enterance (sic!), Beauty and the Beast, On Mendip U Would, Wet Nasty Muddy, Roof Meets Floor, and not only last but also least oneBedding Plane With Rats In! complete with a horrible exclamation mark. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010.02.16: None reported (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Diary (Current) 2010.doc February 16). Either H Brooke and Amulya / Sumi (Brooke, H 2010.02.16 survey data file: Khnai Umpk_02.Text) or HB, ES, AP, DP, SUMI (Brooks et al 2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls) representing Helen Brook, Estelle Sandford, Amulya Prasad Parihar, Derek Pettiglio, and Vinklo Sumi, created a survey data file generating a survey length and recording an erroneous vertical range.
