Description
A cave entrance of unknown size is guided by a cross-rift, which faces an unknown direction and is partially choked and consequently turns even a little air current into a good draught (Brooks 2009.06.06 Mss: Honey 2), functions as a stream sink (seasonal) into pothole (Brooks based on Henry Rockcliffs notes 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey - [deleted: Combe] Comb 2). SITUATION: Not only in an inexplicable location falling on the Lyngtah quadrangle (N25°17': E092°31' to N25°18': E092°32') but also at a spot without identified spatial relation to the other known cave entrances in the Um Muju area (note 1). Brooks, S.J. (2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey - [deleted: Combe] Comb 2) based on Henry Rockcliffs notes was not only led to believe there exist no obvious / reliable landsmarks but also suggested to assume an elevation of 850 to 880 m based on alt of other local caves. This is not the case (note 2).CAVE DESCRIPTION 1: One of … nine new caves, all of them with vertical entrances under te big broken boulders. Most of them are drafting [sic! more likely: draughting] and oulook [sic!] of all the caves are good (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss -Diary 2009.doc- Thursday 19th February). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2: Entrance is a cross rift partially choked. Climbable first pitch of 7 m leads to second pitch (undescended) of ±15 m. Little known cave in the area (Brooks, S.J. 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey - [deleted: Combe] Comb 2). SPELEOMETRY: Brooks (2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey - [deleted: Combe] Comb 2) calculates 7 +15 = 30 as adding 7 m (1st pitch) to 15 m (2nd pitch) yields an estimated 30 m deep cave. PROSPECTS: Worthwhile. Undescended second pitch (Brooks, S.J. 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey - [deleted: Combe] Comb 2).e big broken boulders. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2009.02.19: Henry Rockcliff, Roshan Yengkhom (Medical Assistant, Indian Navy), and Polchung 'Chung' Kipgen (Indian Navy) walked down from the village of Tangnub and found eleven previously ignored cave entrances, which they declared to represent nine new caves (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Thursday 19th).
