Wat Pha Tok is a renowned forest wat founded in 1968 by Phra Ajan Chuan Kunchettho. The wat is famous for the wooden walkways that ascend the 150m high outcrop of eolian sandstone in seven levels and took five years to build. These seven levels represent the seven levels of Buddhist enlightment. The sandstone is Upper Cretaceous and is known as the Phu Tok Formation.
