UMLAWAN 6 a-b (Krem)

Out of the two cave entrances 6a and 6b, which are both characterised by unidentified shapes, unidentified dimensions and unidentified peculiarities, there is a relatively »huge« cave entrance. SITUATION: Not only east of the National Highway NH44 from Jowai to Sonapur and about 300 m north of Krem –>Umkhang but also on an »other side of the valley« (no name mentioned) in which the cave entrance to Um Lawan 2 is found and at vertically an estimated 10 m above the blind end or beginning of that valley. CAVE DESCRIPTION: A relatively huge cave entrance in a collapse doline down a steep boulder slope to junction with a comparatively impressive stream canyon. Upstream goes for several 100 m to a collapse with relatively small possible ways on below. The downstream route enters in the ceiling to immediately sump below and steep boulder slope above to another cave entrance, Krem Umlawan 6b (Jarratt 1998.02.21 Mss: Cave Log 1998: 21/2/98). PROSPECTS: Relatively small possible ways below an upstream collapse need digging (Jarratt 1998.02.21 Mss: Cave Log 1998: 21/2/98).
