Tham Than Nam Lot Yai - CP0013

Location
Khlong Phrao National Park is 24km north from Lang Suan on the H41, then 20km west on the H4139. This through cave is near Ban Khao Thalu, a couple of kilomtres to the south of Tham Than Nam Lot Noi. Take Highway 41 from Chumphon town for some 50km til you reach the Khao Pip intersection (a Tesco store is on the right just before the intersection). Turn right at the intersection onto road No. 4139 and travel 25km to the village of Khao Thalu. In the village turn right at the crossroads and travel about 100 meters taking the first road to the right. Follow this concrete road about 500m to the area of the cave. The sink entrance (where the river enters the cave) is well sign posted all the way from Highway 41. Where the river exits the cave is a lot harder to find as there are no road signs. Took me two efforts. Same route from Chumphon town but only travel some 19km along road No. 4139. Turn right at the crossroads and follow the road at the base of the mountain. Need to take a left at 4km and then another left at the crossroads some 1.5km further on. The cave entrance is 500m from the crossroads. Just before the bridge over the river.
Description
The Khlong Sawi stream, carrying more than one cubic metre per second and with a catchment area of around 110km2, sinks beneath a large entrance and follows a 20m wide, 8m high passage right through the mountain to the resurgence. A 150m long dry side passage was noted and according to local people there is a tributary stream passage in the left bank which has not explored.
Hydrology and Geology
The stream has a catchment of about 110 sq km.
