ETYMOLOGY: Among the nameless Umkyrpong Shafts … east of the village of Unkyrapong [sic!] (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 10th February), which may be identical with the nameless three further small cave entrances(Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc) noticed on 9th February 2010, is the nameless Shaft 111 (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 10th February) that has been recorded as Shaft 111 Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 11th February); Arbenz, T (2010.04.18 Mss: Pala positions.xls; Arbenz, T 2012.07.20 undated Meghalaya cave record ”Shaft 111” in: XSObjectsPala.doc; ARBENZ, T (2012: 236) Shaft 111 Galloway Arbenz, T (2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_idge_4-10.pdf) Shaft 111 111 Galloway, R (2010.02.11 Mss -Shaft 111 111- dated: II Feb 2010) Umkhyrpong Shaft 111 Brooks, Simon J et al (2010.03.29 Mss: Survey summary.xls). SITUATION: At an unspecified location (apparently somewhere in the catchment area of the Umkyrpong river basin) and without recognised spatial relations not only to AA Cave (Galloway 2010) 111 but to each and every cave entrance in the same vicinity (note 1). APPROACH: Follow the Shackti track [note 2] from the village of Umkyrpone [note 3] east. Just past the only [known] village viewpoint [without identified GPS position] take the left track [note 4] and continue heading east after another fork [without identified GPS position] take the foot track heading east 200 m on the RHS [right-hand side without identified direction] there is a garden. Turn back on yourself for about 40 m then head north for 20 m to shaft (Galloway, R 2010.02.11 Mss: Shaft 110 110). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010: A somehow 3.4 metre [large cave] etrance with [a] 45° slope leading down to [a] horizontal floor [gives the impression of] leading to [an] upwards slope [ascending] to [an inexplicable kind of a] hole. This leads to [a relatively] tight rift pitch, [which is] just body sized at pitch head which bells out towards bottom. [Somewhere in the world, a cave] passage blanks out straight on [in an unidentified direction] and pinches out back towards [the cave] entrance (Galloway, R 2010.02.11 Mss: Shaft 111 111). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012: Rift from surface. 45°slope to horizontal passage along rift. Blocked both ways (Arbenz, T 2012.07.20 undated Meghalaya cave record ”Shaft 111” in: XSObjectsPala.doc). SPELEOMETRY: Boys fond of comparing what is important for them recorded the lengths 31.4 m 11.1 m Galloway, R (2010.02.11 Mss: Shaft 111 111) 31.4 m 11.1 m Arbenz, T (2010.08.18 Mss: Pala positions.xls) 31.4 m 11.1 m (distoX) Arbenz, T 2012.07.20 undated Meghalaya cave record ”Shaft 111” in: XSObjectsPala.doc) 31.0 m 11.0 m Aonymous et al.
