Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was understood to give access to a cave of unspecified nature characterised by unidentified features. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what was dubbed »Krem Umlawan 3« because it has nothing to do with Krem Umlawan and Krem Umlawan 2. SITUATION: About 300 m north of the cave entrance to Krem –>Umkhang and not only on the »left hand« (Jarratt 1998 Meghalaya Cave Log, 23rd February) but also on each and every front, back or right side that ever lies east of the National Highway NH44. CAVE DESCRIPTION 1998a: An estimated 10 m long and, perhaps, 3 m deep cave which -- and this is no joke -- »soon chokes« (Jarratt 1998.02.23 Mss: Cave Log 1998: 23/2/98). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1998b: »A choked entrance« leads to »no cave accessible« (Antony 'Tony' Boycott 1998 February personal communication).
Histoire
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1997.03.02, trip 1: Spirit Lamare and Worling Lamare, both from Lumshnong, guided Antony 'Tony' Boycott and Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt to the entrance, where they were shown on »97-3-2 … four entrances, all called Krem Um Lawan, and all previously unknown [to many people unfamiliar with the area]. Investigations reveal that one entrance is choked, and the other three have pitches for which the team have no tackle to enable a descent to be made« (Brooks, S J in: BROOKS, S J et al 1998: 30). 1998.02.23, trip 2: Anthony 'Tony' R. Jarratt and Brian Johnson visited and entered, refrained from noticing anything, exited and that's it.
