Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was said to give access to a second cave called Krem Sahiong (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). SITUATION 2012: The cave entrances to Krem Sahiong and Synrang U –>Long (or, perhaps, Synrang U Iong) were all found at walking distances west of the village of Moo Knor (25°23'27”N: 92°36'16”E) and in settings above the banks of either the Wah Sahiong or the Wah Lympriang (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc), which both must be tributary streams to the orographically left bank of the Kopili River (26°15'N: 92°10'E). SITUATION 2013: In a clearly unspecified spatial relation (unidentified direction, unidentified distance) and relatively very close and on the other side of Sahiong 1 is [the cave entrance to Krem] Sahiong 2 (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: 11th February). OSITION: The cave entrance to Sahiong 2 is indicated near (unidentified precision error) N25°23'39”: E092°37'35”: circa 795 m asl but with a 40 m lower elevation of 755 m next to Daly 2012 (Arbenz, T 2013.03.16 dated ”2012.04.30” cave distribution map Pala relief13 2.pdf). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2013a: Sahiong 2 was not looked into (Brian D Kharpran Daly, Oana Chachula and certain -Adi- (either Adrian -Adi- Albuica or Adam -Adi- Costica) in: anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: Monday, 11th February). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.15, trip 1: Ledeimon Pakem [Iedeimon Pakem, Iadei Mon Pakem], Lius Dkhar and Landus Paslein from the village of Moo Knor (25°23'27”N: 92°36'16”E) guided Brian Dermot Kharpran Daly and Rudolf 'Rudi' Weissmair on 15th February 2012 (Wednesday) to the entrances of five caves (Krem Sahiong 1 and 2, Synrang U Long 1, 2 & 3) above streams recorded as the Wah Sahiong and Wah Lympriang (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Diary 2012.doc). 2013.02.11, trip 2: Simon, Brian, Oana, Adi, Peter L and Rob travelled out to Sahiong area with Marissa. Turning off from the main track they followed a smaller track down through the village and onto the crest of a ridge overlooking the valley. A certain Phrimus Manar (Lius? or Louis?) guided Brian D Kharpran Daly, Oana Chachula and Adrian 'Adi' Costica to the cave entrances of Krem Sahiong 1 & 2 … On this occasion, Sahiong 2 was not looked into (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: onday, 11th February). 2013.02.12, trip 3: Brian D Kharpran Daly, Bushan Poshe and Peter Glanvill visited the entrance of Sahiong 2 [and] Peter recced the cave finding some pleasant decorated stream passage going 50 metres downstream and a similar distance upstream to a pool and a daylight entrance. The cave appeared to continue beyond this (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: 12th February, Tuesday). 2013.02.15, trip 4: Oana Chachula and Khlur Mukhim, … the 2 biologist went to Sahiong 2 for biological survey. This cave, was not a proper for this, because is a short one with many entrances. So, is to dry and light (Oana Chachula in: anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: 15th February, Friday). 2013.02.17, trip 5: Thomas Arbenz and David 'Cookie' Cooke … surveyed upstream. The cave has an increasing number of sky-lights until the roof has disappear entirely and becomes a network of canyons. … Downstream Sahiong 2 was ivestigate but not surveyed. It runs for 30ish metres to a junction. Left is a crawl to a rectangular chamber some 4m by 8m. In the floor is a slot some 8m deep, it was not descended because a ladder is required. It is speculated the Sahiong 1 passage is below. Right is crawl under a calcite flow that leads to 20ish metres of passage that ends in a soil covered collapsed (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: 17th February, Sunday). 2013.02.18, trip 6: David 'Cookie' Cook, Simon J Brooks and a certain 'Adi' (either Adrian 'Adi' Albuica or Adam 'Adi' Costica) tidied up un-surveyed side leads then romped down the 11 series (anonymous Arbenz, T 2013.08.07 Mss: Meghalaya Expedition 2013 Diary: 18th February, Monday).
