Description
A rift and open pot or cave entrance without specified shape or dimensions, which is characterised insofar as it is not situated in a streamway but with some surface drainage running into hole (Brooks, S.J. after Henry Rockcliffe [i.e. Henry J. Rockcliff] undated 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1). ETYMOLOGY: No locally known cave names have been identified for altogether four unexplored holes or possible cave entrances, which Henry J. Rockcliff noticed on 19th February 2009 and which Simon J. Brooks (2009.06.06 Mss) based on notes of a so-called Henry Rockcliffe (note 1), nicknamed Krem Honeycombe 1 Krem Honey - Comb 2 instead of Krem Honey - Combe 2 Krem Hony Comb 3 and Krem Honey-Comb 4 but suggested to list as Krem Honeycombe (Brooks 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honey-Comb 2).Brooks (undated 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1) explains that the name of first Honeycomb Cave is a made up name due to area (Um Muju area) looking like a honeycombe [sic!] with many caves [sic! qua: cave entrance] close together (note 2). SITUATION: The entrance to the first Honeycomb Cave lies at an inexplicale location somewhere in the so-called Um Muju Area and not only in an unidentified spatial relation to the other Honeycomb Caves but also in unidentified spatial relations to all the other caves in the –>Um Muju area. APPROACH: Inexplicable (Brooks (undated 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1: The first Honeycomb Cave is one of allegedly … nine new caves [note 3] … with vertical entrances under the big broken boulders. Most of them are drafting [sic! more likely: draughting] and oulook [sic!] of all the caves are good (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss -Diary 2009.doc- Thursday 19th February). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2: Brooks (undated 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1) interpreted Henry J. Rockcliff's notes to mention a kind of rift pothole not situated in a streamway buth with some surface drainage running into hole. PROSPECTS 1: Good (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss -Diary 2009.dc- Thursday 19th February). PROSPECTS 2: Open Pot. Loose. Other sites in area would seem to offer better prospects (Brooks undated 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1).] close together (note 2). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2009.02.19: Henry J. Rockcliff, Roshan Yengkhom (Medical Assistant, Indian Navy), and Polchung 'Chung' Kipgen (Indian Navy) … went out caving with the GPS location of Wah Tabrah (i.e. Krem –>Wah Tepbru WGS84 N25°17'47.8”: E092°30'58.2”: 967 m asl, T. Arbenz, T 2009.02.11). They walked down from the village of Tangnub and found nine previously ignored cave entrances, which they declared to represent new caves (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Thursday 19th). Simon J. Brooks after Henry Rockcliffe [i.e. Henry J. Rockcliff] 2009.06.06 Mss: Krem Honeycombe 1) confirms, literally quoted, that Henry Rockcliffe accompanied by Roshan & Chung visited and located.
