A comparatively obvious closed depression without identified shape and dimensions seems to take a [relatively] large stream in monsoon (note 1) and is not only characterised by rock wall on two sides (Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamed Cave 2) but also contains an unspecified cave entrance without identified shape, size, characteristics or peculiarities, that gives not only access to an unspecified shaft (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc) but also was said to intersect a cave passage in Krem –>Tyngheng (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 10th February). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known cave name has been identified for what foreigners dubbed (chronologically sorted) Unnamed Cave 2 Boycott, Antony 'Tony' (2008.02.16 Mss -Unnamend Cave 2- dated 16/2/08) Krem 2009 new shaft 891 m Arbenz, T (2009 Pala_Ridge_3-09.pdf cave distribution map) Pala Pot (note 2) Anonymous et al. SITUATION 2010: The entrance to this pothole lies not only anywhere you like on the Pala Ridge (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 9th February 2010) but also at a location without identified spatial relatio to the village of Pala. SITUATION 2008: Boycott (2008.02.16 Mss) located Unnamed Cave 2 not only at an estimated distance of 200 m downslope … to the left (without identified direction) but also of road and without identified travelling distances between the villages of Pala (25°24'43”N: 92°34'09”E) and Umkyrpong (25°26'04”N: 92°34'48”E). Here, the Unnamed Cave 2 is said to lie near current end of Krem Tyngheng. Raplang Shangpliang (in: Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Shaft) was said to have located this pothole at an estimated travelling distance of about 500 m before Pala (25°24'43”N: 92°34'09”E). APPROACH: From the northern end of Pala village a Shaktiman track leads north east along the crest towards Umkyrpong village. About halfway along this track near N25°25'15.9” and E92°34'23.5” at 881 metres asl a distinct doline lies about 100 m to the north of the track. In the centre of the doline is Pala Shaft (ARBENZ, T 2012: 120). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2008a: A relatively mall hole at south end passable. May need to move boulder ? 5 m pitch (Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamed Cave 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2008b: The Unnamed Cave 2 is a pothole (anonymous Brooks, Simon J undated Mss amendment to Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Cave 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010: In a first final analysis, the sportsmen Tom Chapman, Andy [Andrew] Chapman, David Cooke, Erfan Fekri and Leila Esfandiary observed selected aspects of a sports training devise that allows not only the negotiating but also the overcoming of obstacles, which include an entrance shaft approx. 8 m, loose boulders. 2nd pitch approx. 15 m through hole in floor to free climb through loose boulders to stream passage (inactive). Another underground lead near entrance found (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 9th February 2010). SPELEOMETRY: Boycott (2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Shaft) assumed that this pothole is an estimated 40 m deep. CULTURAL HISTORY - human use: Human boy disposal, either dead or alive: According to hearsay (information received from other people that one cannot adequately substantiate), this pothole is reputed to have been used as a disposal site for dead or alive human bodies: Victims of a fight between Sammasi [i.e. Samasi] and Pala people were thrown down here January 2008 (Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 2008.02.16 Mss -Unnamend Cave 2- after Raplang Shangpliang) CAVE CLIMATE: On 16th February 2008 Boycott, Antony 'Tony' had noticed at an unidentified time and air current and recorded a relatively strong outgoing hot draught (2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamed Cave 2). On 9th February 2010 Andy, Cookie, Tom, Erfan, Leila had noticed at an unidentified time a relatively good (without comparison) draft (out) (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 9th February 2010).y disposal, either dead or alive: According to hearsay (information received from other people that one cannot adequately substantiate), this pothole is reputed to have been used as a disposal site for dead or alive human bodies: Victims of a fight between Sammasi [i.e. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2008 January: Human bodies, allegedly victims of a fight between Samasi and Pala were thrown down here in January 2008 (Raplang Shangpliang, Shnongrim, in: Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Cave 2). 2008.02.16, trip 1: Guided by Raplang Shangpliang (Shnongrim) and one Marios (driver) without identified name, Boycott, Antony 'Tony' and Jayne Stead recce (Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Cave 2). On this occassion, Raplang Shangpliang (Shnongrim) narrates a thrilling tale suiting the tastes of CNN informed people (Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Shaft). Anonymous (Brooks, Simon J undated Mss amendment to Boycott 2008.02.16 Mss: Unnamend Cave 2) confirms that Tony Boycott, Jayne Stead, Raplang, Marios (driver) 2008 collect info.2010.02.09, trip 2: Tom Chapman, Andy Chapman, David Cooke, Erfan Fekri, and Leila Esfandiary … went to drop a shaft found 2009 [sic! qua: was shown on 196th February 2008] on the Pala Ridge (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current 2010.doc: 9th February 2010). 2010.02.10, trip 3: Tom Chapman, Andy Chapman, Erfan Fekri and Leila Esfandiary attempted with little success to get as close as possible to having … surveyed Erfan’s inlet passage leading to a choked shaft to daylight. Continued pushing and surveying through dangerous boulders to reach main stream of Tyngheng at station 232/74. The survey needs two legs to complete (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 10th February). 2010.02.14, trip 4: Tom Chapman and Andy Chapman attempted once more to arrive at a state of having resurveyed and derigged Pala shaft to make connection with Tienghen [sic! qua: Krem Tyngheng] at station 232/74. Spent one and a half hours to find the way to downstream passage. Took note of joint and strike maze near survey station 232/74 but did not survey. Downstream to connection with Dengjem at station 232/97. Checked for going leads at end of Tenghem [sic! qua: Krem Tyngheng] but only upstream continuation of Denjem stream was noted which flows under surveyed passage to meet Tenghem [sic! qua: Krem Tyngheng] stream. Exited via Dengjem (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc). 2010.02.15, trip 5: Simon J. Brooks and the unidentified caving subject Tom Andy (Tom Chapman, Andy Chapman) and the guest soldier Roshan Singh Yengkhom (Indian Navy) … descended Pala Pot Entrance to Krem Tyngheng and began exploring side passages in the section of streamway beyond Floating Cock Passage. A considerable amount of canal maze was found and 376.68 m of passage surveyed with many leads remaining. They then exited the cave via Krem Dienjem looking at some goods leads in the lower reaches of Tyngheng on the way (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc).
