Description
These co-ordinates are for the entrance to the cave. The exit is at 47P 554505 1547735 64 m From the entrance a few steps lead down into a 10 m long by 10 m wide by 4 m high chamber with a 4 m reclining Buddha. Behind the statue the cave descends as a narrow passage, which is about 2 m high, going through a couple of smaller chambers to reach a larger chamber with a Buddha at the bottom of the cave. From here concrete steps and iron ladders lead steeply up to the exit.

History
1870 King Chulalongkorn visited the cave. 1981-12-30 J. Dunkley sketch survey. 1995-12-10 Joanne Masheder,23, from the Wincle, Cheshire, murdered by a monk Yodchat Suaphu in the grounds of Wat Tham Khao Poon in Kanchanaburi, where she was thrown into a cave. The monk, it was later discovered had previously been jailed for rape and confessed to raping an Australian woman, but was never charged. It was some time before her body was found and in the hue and cry the media were deflecting the fault away from Thailand. ôInsurance Scam SuspectedÆ ran a headline in the Thai Rath, suggested she was not dead at all, but foreigners wanted to collect the insurance on her demise.
