LYNGKHA KORES 2 (Krem)

Description
The second cave near the field (in Khasi: ka lyngkha) that belongs to the Koris family, was understood to consist of a c.25 m pothole (Jarratt 2004.02.26 Mss: Krem Lyngkha U Koris 2 …) or an open pot (Davies 2004.02.28 Mss: Lynkha Koris #2- dated 28/02/04 or 28/03/04). an Open pot or a dry, well decorated 23m pot [containing flowstone curtains and dissolving speleothems] with a soil and debris floor. The floor is elliptical in area, 10 m along its longest axis [without identified orientation], 4 m across width. Water sinks in a muddy hole at the NE end. There is a roofed aven on the SW end. No way on. SITUATION 1 (Jarratt 2004.02.26 Mss): See Krem Lyngkha U Koris 1. It is in the same patch of jungle and at the edge of [what once had been for a short time] a lyngkha (plantation). SITUATION 2 (Davies 2004.02.28 Mss): As for Krem Lynkha [sic! instead of Lyngkha] Koris #1 . SITUATION 3: According to the anything but reliable GPS readings, which were recorded with what was considered a -prcicison- of ±16 m (sic! for: offending lack of precision) and an unspecified offset from the true location, the second Krem Lyngkha Koris lies at a linear distance of mere 4.2 m (the smallest indicable diagonal distance) south-west of the first one. Considering the shoddy precisions combined with the failure to recognise the GPS reading offsets, the two caves are possibly overlapping or 512 m apart from each other. CAVE DESCRIPTION: Davies (2004.02.28 Mss -Lynkha Koris #2- dated 28/02/04 or 28/03/04): JRat first noted in 2003 a dry well decorated 23 m pot with a soil + debris floor. The floor is elliptical in area, 10 m along its longest axis, 4 m across width. Water sinks in a muddy hole at NE end. While there is a roofed aven on the SW end. No way on. Later on, in the cave contents paragraph, explains Davies (2004.02.28 Mss: Lynkha Koris #2) that the 23 m pot is not exactly dry well decorated (cave description) but decorated with flowstone curtains which have / are being resdisolved[sic! for: redissolved] and thus indicate the presence of speleothems.
