UM IM CAVE 15

An estimated 30 by 12 m wide and allegedly -surveyed- 90 m deep large pit (Sheen 2008.02.17 Mss: Um / Im 15) consists either of a shaft (note 1) or of a pot hole (note 2) and contains either old stal or old stal adorning its sides (speleothems). This pit, pitch, pot, shaft, pothole, and so on, gives not only access to high level passages at various levels but also to interesting leads, which, in an unexplainable way, eventually join an unidentified passage somewhere in a so-called Liat/Prah - Um/Im system (Sheen 2008.02.20 Mss: Um Im 15) that is otherwise known as the cave system of Krem –>Liat Prah. SITUATION: Without identified spatial relation to the Um Im Caves in the same or another vicinity. APPROACH: Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss: Um / Im 15) explains how exactly to find this pothole cave entrance by getting to WGS84 N25°21'52.1”: E92°31'43.6 (fully imagined precision error ±7 m): 1010 m asl (note 3). At this stage of coming down upon Um Im Cave 15, follow path to lip of pot on to astern side (note 4). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1: Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss: Um / Im 15) focuses on a selection of sports training device aspects relevant for recreational adventure tourism: A large pit circa 30 m long by 12 m wide with old stal at various levels can be descended by free climbing down boulders for about 50 m to the head of a deep pot circa 40-50 m deep audibly landing in water. This large pot has upper level passage at various levels and old stal adorning its sides. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2: Sheen (2008.02.20 Mss: Um Im 15): Shaft drops vertically for circa 90 m averaging 10 m in diameter to a streamway which joins the Liat/Prah - Um/Im system [i.e. Krem –>Liat Prah] at survey station done in 2005 no 1/73. TACKLE: Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss: Um / Im 15) initially suggested handlines to access pot and probably 60 m of rope for the pitch while Sheen (2008.02.20 Mss: Um Im 15) later deletes 5 m rope + 100 m of rope (60 & 40) to list 5 m rope + 100 m (60 & 40) instead. PROSPECTS 2008-3: Though he whole lot of high level leads remain unexplored, Sheen (2008.02.20 Mss: Um Im 15) does away with Finished (sic!).
