Location

This cave is a major tourist attraction to the north of the H210 about 20km to the east of Wang Saphung, near the village of Ban Erawan and on the border with Nong Bua Lam Phu. The cave is in an isolated limestone tower and the huge entrance, complete with large Buddha, can be seen for miles across the rice paddies and is well sign posted. The tower is 2km along a side road to the north of the H210. There is a large wat at the foot of the tower and 650 concrete steps lead up to the main entrance. Martin Ellis - 18/03/2020

Description

Martin Ellis - 18/03/2020

There is a large Buddha in the 30m wide by 20m high main entrance. The entrance leads via a large phreatic passage to the main chamber which is about 80m wide and 60m high up to a skylight. The passage continues with a couple of side passages and oxbows to reach concrete steps that climb up to second entrance in a cliff with fine views over the fields. The main chamber resembles a hall and is the scene of a local folk tale about Nang Phom Hom or the Fragrant-haired Lady.
