Description
A comparatively wide but low [cave] entance (8 m wide, 1 m high) faces SSW (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010) and represents one of the cave entrances which gives not only access to a circuituous cave passage or a so-called [relatively] short section [note 1] with stream running through but also to one or the other unspecified cave passages of Krem –>Shalong. At an advanced stage of karstological research the cave was understood to contain not only unspecified some calcite formations (speleothems) beyond description but also sort of sandy floors (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). EVALUATION: Seasonal exurgence drainig water from Krem Shalong during high water conditions into Enle Canyon and the Kopili River (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). ETYMOLOGY: Davidson, R (2010.02.15 Mss: Krem [deleted: Emla] Enle Canon) successfully avoided to understand any meaning. The eputedly Synteng Khasi (Pnar) cave name -Krem Enle- modified from [deleted] Krem Emla may be interpreted --but his is mere guesswork-- either as a) [there] was none in reply to a query for the cave's name (note 2) or, perhaps, as b) an outsider's rendering of -Krem Ïing Lieh- or White House Cave (note 3). SITUATION 2010: Davidson, R (2010.02.15 Mss: Krem [deleted: Emla] Enle Canon) successfully avoided to explain in which surrounding the entrances to this cave are to be found but mentioned the interesting distance of 60 m along with the illegible specification retied … or retier to be in open and survey to entrance as if attempting to point out that the GPS position, which had been recorded for one or the other of the two cave entrances, lies at an estimated distance of 60 m in an unidentified direction from one or the other of the two communicating cave entrances. SITUATION 2010b: Anonymous et al. (2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 14th February) describe a location wich lies at an estimated walking distance of 2.5 km upstream (generally south-east) from an offhand created Krem Labbit Kseh canyon (note 4) and a further 10 min walk from the location of Krem –>Yeji: … a canyon (6 m to 8 m deep, 15 m wide) looking like a river cave without roof (pools and clean walls). 50 m from the Kopili river the canyon is dividing in a fork. The right upstream canyon is going after 30 m of walking (information given by inhabitants) to the resurgence cave of Krem Lymmoh [or Krem –>Lymoh, the lower]. The left upstream canyon is going to the resurgence cave of Krem Enle. SITUATION 2010c: Ross Davidson or Henry Boswell Dawson increased confusion by declaring that one or the other of the two cave entrances to Krem Enle lies up the left-hand branch of the double canyon (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 15th February) and may not only have meant his private left-hand side (note 5) instead of the orographical right tributary to the Lymmoh Canyo (Phud Lymoh) but also fabricated a double canyon because three gorges meet here at a Y-junction. APPROACH 2011: Take the motorable track which leads from oppsite across an unidentified church (N25°25’24.2”: E92°35’32.7”) in the village of Kseh south-east to what had been in February 2010 a relatively new reservoir, where the track ends. Here a good footpath heads to S and crosses woodland and rice fields and traverses the slope in a SSE direction. After ca. 20 min / 1 km the path hits the 4WD track that comes down from the Kseh-Pala road. (Alternative route by jeep, Pala road junction near N25°25’5.9”: E92°35’31.5”). Follow the track down to reach a farming area where the track ends near N25°24’46”: E92°36’10-. Now take the footpath to the SE 200 m down to the Lymmoh Canyon and cross the ford. Stay on the foot path to cross a hill in woodland into the Enle Canyon. Cross the canyon and follow it upstream (the path is not very distinct) until the canyon changes to a (dry) riverbed. Wlk in the river bed up the left hand branch to the entrance of the cave (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010a: A relatively short section [of something] with stream passing through for about 80 m used for fishing but also a relatively short section of stream passage connecting a surface stream to a downstream canyon Main passage surveyed to 199 m, side passage connects to Krem Shalong (Davidson, R 2010.02.15 Mss: Krem [deleted: Emla] Enle Canon). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010b: A relatively short stream cave … [in the interior of which the progress of sports cavers] ended in a sump with 200 m of passage surveyed in total (Ross, Henry, Erfan and Sumi in: Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary: 15th February) whilst the flooded part of the cave continues unexplored and in an unknown way. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010c: There is an upstream entrance of Krem Enle (Alys, Mark B, Jean-Pierre, Vikrant and Amulya in: Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Ms: Diary: 15th February). SPORTS DEVICE DESCRIPTION 2011: A relatively short … section of stream passage connected to Krem Shalong [note 6] via a not very obvious side passage. The main passage is 199 m long, up to 15 m wide and usually of walking or stooping hight. After a dry bit of about 50 m you traverse a knee-deep pond an end in a longer passage of about 80 m which is getting deeper towards a sump (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). CAVE POTENTIAL: The side passage connects to Krem Shalong. No other potential (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). SPELEOMETRY: Krem Enle is part of Krem –>Shalong but a vertical range of ±3.20 m (+1.44 m / -1.85 m) at a surey length of 199 m was recorded for the so-called Krem Enle alone (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). CULTURAL HISTORY - human use: Fishing ground: Unidentified inhabitants of an unspecified populated place or ara told Brian D. Kharpran Daly (2010.02.14) that people go fishing in all three caves viz. Krem Enle, Krem –>Lymmoh or Krem –>Lymoh (Hapka 2010), and Krem –>Yeji. Davidson, R (2010.02.15 Mss: Krem [deleted: Emla] Enle Canon) draws the attention of fish watchers to [a] stream passing through about 80 m used for fishing where it is rather the passing or, for that matter, the stream passing than the estimated 80 m distance which is used for fishing. Fishing spot (Arbenz, T 2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010). CAVE LIFE: According to unidentified inhabitants (Kharpran Daly 2010.02.14 personal communication, in: Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 14th February) of an unspecified populated place or area, there occur rather edible than merely visible fish (Pisces) in all three caves called Krem Enle, Krem –>Lymmoh or Krem –>Lymoh (Hapka 2010), and Krem –>Yeji. As usual, it is unknowable if the fish, crickets, bats, spiders recorded by Arbnz, T (2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010) had been present in this cave or were inadvertently copied from another digital file.a told Brian D. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010.02.14, trip 1: Roman Hapka, Brian D. Kharpran Daly and Peter Ludwig found a … Krem Enle … 50 m + 30 m from the Kopili river … (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc). 2010.02.15, trip 2: Ross Davidson, a kind of Henry (either a hanging boulder or the caver Henry Boswell Dawson), Erfan Fekri and Vinklo Sumi surveyed Krem Enle, a short stream cave up the left hand branch of the double canyon. It ended in a sump with 200 m of passage (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc). Arbenz, T (2010.12.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010) refers to 15th Feb 2010 and reports that R. Davidson, H. Dawson, V. Sumi surveyed 199 m in main passage. 2010.02.15, trip 3: Alys Mendus, Mark W. Brown, Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns, Vikrant Shukla and Amulya Prasad Parihar … were taken to the upstream entrance of Krem Enle and bumped into the survey team (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc). Arbenz, T (2010.1.01 Mss Ross Davidson 16thFeb.2010 Krem Enle 10.2.2010) refers to the same 15th Feb 2010 and reports that M. Brown, A. Mendus, JP Bartholeyns, V. Shukla connected Krem Enle to Krem Shalong whilst the connecting passage was surveyed from the Shalong side by Mark Brown.
