Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) gives access to a vertical cave (pothole) which breaches sandstone and drops 50.5 m down into limestone (anonymous in: Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss -Diary2007.doc- Tuesday 20th Feb). ETYMOLOGY: The origin and history of the Hmar (Mizo) cave name Khur Mongbo (note 1) has not yet been identified but unacknowledged locals with unidentified names called it Ongoing Cave whilst with names beyond comprehension unacknowledged villagers called it the -hole with no end” and it was described by the headman's wife [with an unidentified name] as the hole, which, if a stone is dropped down, it will fall for five minutes (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007). Extremely fast expedition cavers, who were used to dwell in a kingdom on islands west of continental Europe, achieved rapidly to translate the Hmar (Mizo) cave name -Khur Mongbo- or -Khurmongbo- not only as Evergoing Cave Brooks, S J 2007.03.01 Mss: Survey Summary.xls) and Ongoing Cave (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007), but also as Ongoing Pot (Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss: Diary2007.doc). SITUATION: Unknown. In an unidentified setting and at an unspecified location which was understood to lie somewhere at a walking distance without orientation from the village of Sielkan (note 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION: A blind 50.5 m deep shaft through sandstone into limestone … dropped down to a rift with climbs that tapered down in size (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007).Brooks, S J 2007.03.01 Mss: Survey Summary.xls) and Ongoing Cave (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007), but also as Ongoing Pot (Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss: Diary2007.doc). SITUATION: Unknown. In an unidentified setting and at an unspecified location which was understood to lie somewhere at a walking distance without orientation from the village of Sielkan (note 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION: A blind 50.5 m deep shaft through sandstone into limestone … dropped down to a rift with climbs that tapered down in size (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007).

Histoire

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2007.02.20: Simon J. Brooks, Katharina 'Kate' Janossy, Heidrun Andre and Henry Duxbury were guided by Houplin [note 3] to find a cave but failed to find it so their guide returned to the village to get another [fully unidentified] guide [no name mentioned], who located the cave (ongoing cave). This proved to a blind shaft 50.5 m deep through sandstone into limestone. They returned to the village in the dark (Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss: Diary2007.doc). Simon, Kate, Heidi and Henry D. were guided to a blind 50.5 m deep shaft through sandstone into limestone (JARRATT & DAWSON (2007). Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018
