Tham Pa Archa Thong - CR0069

Location
Wat Tham Pa Archa Thong is signed off the H1, but is obscure - look for signs in Thai saying 'horse riding monks'. A better road up to the cave is from Mae Solong following the sign posted road north for about 1km. There is another sign to turn left on to a gravel road. Just before entering the rock quarry at 47Q 583941 2235407 turn right. The road leads up to a Lahu village. Just before the village turn down a somewhat steep downhill dirt track on the right. At the bottom turn right at the T-junction. There are some stable and horses at the start of the dirt track up to the cave.
Description
There are some interesting statues at the entrance and a nice view as its near the top of the hill. The cave has not been fully explored, but appears to be at least a couple hundred meters long. This is a bell shaped cave where the inside is a large pile of breakdown and the cave gets deeper, and the passage more planar the further from the center of the chamber. Nearly all of the "flat" passages have been explored, some going nearly vertically down and only 15cm wide, but they all became impassible after 3-4m. The one promissing lead is a 6-7m well-like pitch with a diameter of 2-3m. It could probably be descended with a hand line, but fairly dangerous just free climbing. It was difficult to tell if there was on going passage at the bottom, but it might act as a drain for the whole cave as the bottom seems to be the deepest point.
