A cave and spring (note 1) is said to be the source of a stream called Um Muju (note 2). ETYMOLOGY: The Synteng noun -ka chun- (chuna, chuni) seems to correspond to the Khasi -ka shun- (note 3) and is lime (SINGH, N 1906: 200) as -shun kpu- is slaked lime and -shun dewiong- is lime burned with coal while -shun dieng- is lime burned with wood (SINGH, N 1906: 200) and -u mawshun- is the limestone (SINGH, N 1906: 131). SITUATION: At an unspecified location somewhere in the Eitkoh area at the western foot of the Nongkhlieh Ridge (Wesley Rupon & Pyntyngen Bamon 2001.02.12 personal communication) and at the head of the Um Muju (note 2 again), a tributary, which joins the Litang near N25°18'28-: E092°31'52- (B.D. Kharpran Daly 2001.02.12, blunder prone Magellan 2000XL). CAVE POTENTIAL: To learn anything about this cave, one has to ask Wesley Rupon or Pyntyngen Bamon (brother of the Tongseng village headman in February 2002), both inhabitants of Tongseng village.A cave and spring (note 1) is said to be the source of a stream called Um Muju (note 2).
