Location

On the northern edge of Pha Daeng National Park, about 1 km from the Myanmar border. A track signposted "Muang Na Caves" leads northwards from near the bridge just east of Muang Na town. After about 1km, while still amongst buildings, take a concrete road on the right and the cave is signed in Thai. The concrete ends at a crematorium. Continue on the dirt track through the fields (concrete and paving on the steep sections) to a forest temple. Do not attempt the track when it is wet! Tham Jaeng-Pha Hok is at the back of the temple with a wooden gate and is signed. Martin Ellis - 29/06/2019

Description

Martin Ellis - 29/06/2019

Tham Jaeng-Pha Hok is at the back of the temple with a wooden gate and is signed. This is a large, well-decorated cave which said to have been the last place King Naresuan stayed on Siamese soil in 1605AD before meeting his death at Muang Hang, 30 km to the north. The main chamber has been developed as a Buddhist shrine. At the back of this chamber a short climb up over a rockfall leads to a completely dark inner chamber with some formations, including some active flowstone.
