Description

Martin Ellis - 14/09/2019

A large and spectacular cave located on the east side of a forested hill. One huge, fossil chamber, divided into four smaller convenience, contains a lot of large scale breakdown and in parts is very well decorated. Entry to the cave is via a difficult 6m free climb down into a vertical sided collapse doline which breaks into the roof of the 'Entrance Chamber'. The 'Entrance Chamber is very well decorated with many white columns and flowstone cascades. Climbing up the far side reaches the highest point in the cave where there is some aragonite. To the left of the bottom of the entrance climb a slide down a soil slope behind the flowstone wall reveals a small ante chamber. This is incompletely explored. Heading east over large boulders reaches a 7m climb down flowstone (bamboo or handline needed). At the bottom is the bouldery '2nd Chamber'. Large formations are common again. A soil slope at the bottom corner leads to to the head of a 7m climb (again bamboo or a handline is needed). At the foot of this climb is the '3rd Chamber'. Smaller than the previous 'chambers', this room has little decoration, but does contain fresher breakdown. This chamber has a 13m pitch carrying a small percolation stream that hasn't been descended. Climbing down another, easier, 7m climb reaches the '4th Chamber' which is basically a gap between huge breakdown boulders. A short rift breaks into the undescended 13m pitch from the '3rd Chamber'. The sandy floor of the '4th Chamber' is the bottom of the explored cave.
