Sai Thong Resurgence - CR0002
20.372425,99.872355
Location
1 km south of Tham Luang, at the foot of Doi Nang Non. Turn off the main road 7.5 km south of Mae Sai and continue straight west through Ban Jong to Khun Nam Nang Non RFD station. The resurgence forms a pool in the park and is 40 m to the east and 20 m below Tham Sai Thong.
Description
This is probably draining the water from Tham Luang. The resurgence is choked with boulders and can not be dived. However, boulders have been dug out to reach a passage heading on 340¦. There are three resurgences in the lake: 1) 'The Cave' on the right hand side, the top of which can be seen when the lake is full. This flows clear percolation water, but is soon blocked (Vern and Rob had a look). 2) 'Vauclusian' permanent spring that is gravel choked and about 20m in front of The Cave. This flows all year. 3) 'The Flood' is nearer to Tham Sai Thong. Flows muddy water after rainfall. It comes up through gravel and has loose boulders in and above it.
