Location
The entrance to Wat Soong is marked by a slightly run down and overgrown shrine beside the road and a paved road leads up the hill. From the wat a path is followed uphill through the forest heading westwards and then, at a col, head north. Finally an impressive wooden walkway attached to the cliff face is ascended to reach the entrance. There is a large platform at the entrance, which is high on a cliff face, with magnificent views over the surrounding countryside.
Description
The entrance has a large wooden fence, but the gate is usually open if a monk isn't in residence. Inside there is a large Buddha and a wooden ladder leads up to a small roof passage. There are a couple of meditation kuti at the entrance to the passage. The passage is crawling height and floored with hardwood parquet. It leads to a small shrine. At the end a small hole was not explored as bats were coming out at high speed. Wooden fence and gate, though kept unlocked.
