Description
A cave entrance without specified size or shape, which faces an unspecified direction, is characterised by an 2 m long rock arch without specified size or orientation, which stands without specified spatial relation just before the entrance that leads to what was considered a perennial if not seasonal stream cave (Jarratt 2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud). ETYMOLOGY: The Synteng Khasi (Pnar) -u mu- is the same as the standard Khasi -u maw- and signifies a stone (SINGH, N 1906: 130) while the Khasi -ka pûd- is the word for a boundary (SINGH, N 1906: 164). Ware & Bayley (2002.02.23 Mss: Krem Wah Moopud 1) had learned the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) -mopud- means boundary stone (note 1) but Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt interpreted moopud (Jarratt 2003.03.25 personal correspondence) or mooput (Jarratt 2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud 13/3/03) as a standing stone. This is not the case (note 2). SITUATION (Jarratt 2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud): At an inexplicale lcation somewhere … in jungle on NW side of ridge behind Carly Phyrngap's (and Pa Heh [note 2] Shor Paju's) home (Carlyn's father or stepfather). CAVE DESCRIPTION 1 (Jarratt 2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud): A 2 m long rock arch in an unspecified spatial relation just before the entrance faces an unknown direction and leads not only to c.15 m crawl without known dimensions but also to a right angled bend and tight but diggable bedding plane. PROSPECTS: Jarratt (2003.03.13 Mss, Jarratt 2003.03.25 Mss): Reasonable. CAVE CLIMATE: Jarratt (2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud) noticed (no time mentioned) an air current (air flow) and recorded strong outward draught on 24/2/03 (24.02.2003).A cave entrance without specified size or shape, which faces an unspecified direction, is characterised by an 2 m long rock arch without specified size or orientation, which stands without specified spatial relation just before the entrance that leads to what was considered a perennial if not seasonal stream cave (Jarratt 2003.03.13 Mss: Krem Muput 1 / Krem Moopud).
