THORN CAVE (Dawson 2010)

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unspecified dimensions, unidentified orientation) gives access to stooping passage about welly-deep in water leading to one main passage and one side passage both roughly north-west. Whole cave is awkward: narrow and sharp (Audsley, A U 2010.02.09 Mss: Krem Thorn). At an advanced state of cave entering, unspecified speleothems were found blocking a side passage but, perhaps, were not destroyed. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for this cave which Annie U. Audsley or Henry Boswell Dawson christened as an apparently Khasi looking but obviously threadbare Krem Thorn (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc) as if the English counterparts -Shia Cave- and -Diengshiah Cave- were common on one or the other islands off continental Europe (note 1). SITUATION 1: According to Audsley (2010.02.09 Mss: Krem Thorn), the entrance to the Thorn Cave lies roughly 20 m south of the entrane to Dengjem (sic! qua: Krem –>Dieng Jem) at the bottom of a relatively small crag, which is characterised by an unidentified size and lies not only upstream along a river (more likely: a streambed, dry in February 2010) but also is somehow set back from the river (dry) on west (right-hand) side from an unidentified point of view. SITUATION 2: Arbenz, T (2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf) indicates the entrance to Krem Thorn (sic!) adjacent SSE from the cave entrance to Krem Diengjem Rockcliff 2009 (Krem –>Dieng Jem). SITUATION 3: According to the recorded GPS position, the entrance to Thorn Cave lies 22 m in a direct line south from the GPS position recorded not only for the entrance to Krem Dieng Jem (note 2) itself but also for the entrance to (the second, topographically and speleometrically independent) Krem Dieng Jem 2 = Krem Dieng Jem Resurgence (note 3). APPROACH: Audsley (2010.02.09 Mss: Krem Thorn) falls back onto raw drill ground speak and commands Follo an unspecified the river upstream (south) from Dengjem [sic! qua: Krem –>Dieng Jem] roughly 20 m.
