Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is not only said to give access to a relatively big cave but also is reputed to be comparatively beautiful with decorations (Kharpran Daly 2010.02.06 Mss: Krem Mawjudok 06-02-2010). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi ”u máw” (noun) signifies a stone (SINGH, N 1906: 130) but the word -judok- is not identified (note 1).SITUATION 2010: In an unspecified setting and at an unidentified location which was said to have been reached from the village of Phlangwanbroi (note 2) by travelling for a distance covering a probably two hours' walk (Kharpran Daly 2010.02.06 Mss: Krem Mawjudok) in an unidentified direction (note 3). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010 February (note 6): Brian D. Kharpran Daly (2010.02.02 Mss: Krem Mawjudok 06-02-2010) was informed by an unidentified informant (perhaps Hiamdor Rapsang, Mawsynram Village Secretary, or by Tiberius Malai Syiem) about Krem Mawjudok. 2010.03.12: Simon J. Brooks (2010.03.12 Overview 2010.doc) discovered that information about other new caves [note 7] was gathered [during the first days of February 2010] and this [Malaisohmat] area is likely to be the focus for further exploration in future years. 2012.02.19: The three drivers Kyrshan Thabah, Bolk Syntiew, and Devel Mawlong drive not only the two guides called PlantonIawrod (or so) and Harel Syiemleh (both from an unidentified populated place) and the two police officers Martin Marak and Sylvester Pataw (Meghalaya Police) but also the February 2012 whole team after breakfast in a certain Dangar Village (or so) along some very rough roads and tracks … via Charikata Village to Jyllang Village. Here they walk for jus over an hour to the North East of the village to reach a tributary valley (The Remblang Area) (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). 2012.02.19, trip 1, PlantonIawrod and Harel Syiemleh guide Hiamdor Rapsang, Simon J. Brooks, Sharareh 'Shary' Ghazy, Pedro Silva Pinto, Helen Blyth, Kyle Wayne Baker, Ryan P. Baker, Andre Abele, and Martin Marak: … Simon, Shary, Pedro, Helen, Ryan, Kyle, Andre, Martin Marik, Rapsang and the two guides are … taken for approximately one hour up the valley and then via a dry streambed into an adjacent valley and eventually to the entrance of Krem Mawjudok. Initial investigations show this to be a relic cave of large proportions that contains a very sizeable bat colony. Approximately 75.48 m of passage are surveyed before the pressure of time dictates that the team should return to Krem Um where they find the other team waiting. They then all walk back to Jyllang Village, a long drive home and a late finish (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Mghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). 2012.02.20-21, trip 2, PlantonIawrod and Harel Syiemleh guide show Pedro Silva Pinto, Kyle Wayne Baker, Ryan P. Baker, and Helen Blyth once more the way to Krem Mawjudok: Accompanied by the two local guides (PlantonIawrod and Harel Syiemleh) Ryan, Kyle, Pedro and Helen are taken back to Krem Mawjudok where they plan to survey until late and overnight in Krem Remblang or Krem Dom (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary, entry for Monday 20th February 2012). Ryan, Kyle, Pedro and Helen had completed the survey of Krem Mawjudok early that morning (3-00am). 423.34m of passage surveyed. Leaving the cave they had slept until dawn in front of the cave before walking to Krem Um where they slept on a sandbar in front of the cave. Pleased to see the arrival of the rest of the team and particularly breakfast. They then rested in the sun whilst the rest of the party split into two teams to explore and survey the other caves in the area (Anonymous 2012.0310 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary, entry for Tuesday 21st February 2012).
