Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A cave entrance without identified shape and dimensions gives access to a pothole where a shaft intersects Krem –>Liat Prah Liat Prah. SITUATION: At an unspecified location, was understood to lie at one point or another. Arbenz, T (2007.11.01 personal correspondence) forwarded a marginal note (note 1) explaining that the confusion arrives from the prolonged uncertainty if this cave entrance is called Laumanns' Pot, Snowman's Pot or even Naumann's Pot (for: Pot of Andreas -Andy- Neumann) while it never became clear if this is one and the same pothole or two, if not three different ones. As far as I know, the opinions disagree till today. POSITION 1: At an estimated linear distance of 30 m on 210° from WGS84 N25°21'49.5”: E092°31'45.5” (without identified horizontal precision error, Robin Sheen 2004.02.24, 12-channel Garmin Etrex in: Sheen 2004.11.06 Mss) or, the latter corrected, near N25°21'48.8”: E092°31'44.7” (WGS84). This would place Snowman's Pot about 42 m in a diect line appromimately south-west (215°) from –>Laumanns' Pot (note 2). POSITION 2: Snowmans? Pot (or so) near (unidentified horizontal precision error) N25°21'52.1”: E092°31'48.0” (PL, DB 2004.02.19 in Arbenz, Thomas 2004.02 Mss: Abstracts.xls). This would place Snowman's Pot at a linear distance of 92.0 m approximately north-east (71.7 m north + 58.3 m east) of Laumanns' Pot. POSITION 3: Laumann's Pot, Noman's Pot (Neumann's Pot) or Snowman's Pot near (±10 m) N25°21'49.3”: E092°31'44.7”: 1033 m asl (note 3). SPELEOMETRY: Arbenz, T (2008.01.20 Mss): Snowman's Pot contributed by March 2007 a survey length of 87.18 m to the Labit Cave System (Krem –>Liat Prah).A cave entrance without identified shape and dimensions gives access to a pothole where a shaft intersects Krem –>Liat Prah Liat Prah. Histoire

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2007.02.11: Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt and Desmond 'Des' McNally lowered themselves into Snowman’s pot to look at boulder chokes at the end of Video Passage and perhaps meet Peter, Brian and Quentin. They got lost and never got there, so they exited (Brooks, S J et al. 2007.03.01 Mss: Diary2007.doc). According to JARRATT & DAWSON (2007), Sunday 11th … The writer and Des, meanwhile, abseiled into Liat Prah via Snowman's Pot but failed to find the route to Video Passage. 2009.02.06: Torben Redder read and recorded a GPS position near the entrance of Snowman's Pot, which had been easy to find as the vegetation has changed a bit since the last exploration. Peter Ludwig, Commander Arnab Das (Indian Navy) and LSA Biranchi Narayan Bhola (Indian Navy, Leading Store Assistant) rigged the entrance shaft and … put in another three bolts to make the descent easier and safer. Rigging was videoed by Torben. All four went down and strolled around in Agoraphobia passage(also videoed by Torben). Went out again, climbing times down to 9 minutes. It is now an easy and fast way into [Krem] Liat Prah (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Friday 6th). 2009.02.11: Louise Korsgaard, Torben Redder and Peter Ludwig entered Krem Liat Prah via Snowman's Pot to resurvey not only the problematic connection between Agoraphobia Passage and a certain Um Im 8/9 (note 4) but also a high level passage just above the connection: They also found the way on to the Snowman and did some filming (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Wednesday 11th). 2009.02.12: Peter Ludwig, Torben Redder, Joanne 'Jo' Hardy, and Hugh Penney entered Snowman's Pot with the intention of resurveying one of the connections between Krem Liat Prah and an Um Im Cave. Instead, … Peter bolted up a 5 m climb just along from the Snowman [stalagmite] and they entered a cracking high vaulted passage which closed down after 64 m. It looked as if people had there before but nthing was on the survey (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Thursday 12th). 2009.02.13: Peter Ludwig, Torben Redder, Robert Winkler, Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns, and Cdr Vijay Chhikara (Commander, Indian Navy) entered Krem Liat Prah via Snowman's Pot and went to the Snow Man's Land: About 60 m NNE of Snowman's Pot, the passage heads SE. 10 m SE, a muddy crawl on the right-hand side of the wall base was surveyed. Went to Agoraphobia Passage and towards SW to the boulder choke (no way on found, stagnant air). Series 35 opposite the boulder choke was checked (no way on, stagnant air). In Agoraphobia Passage, between stn 12.48 and 12.46 on the southern wall, Torben started climbing up about 15 m to a point about 8 m below a high level passage (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Friday 13th). 2009.02.14: Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns, Henry Rockcliff, and Karma Choki Bhutia (Leading Store Assistant, Indian Navy) entered Krem Liat Prah via Snowman's Pot to find theselves laying on the floor for two hours to watch, as if they were in a cinema, how Torben Redder continued rigging the 16 m climb up to gain what looked like an interesting high level passage. Unfortunately it was only 8 m long. They derigged the whole cave (Brooks, S J et al. 2009 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Saturday 14th). Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018
