WAH LAMBYRNAI (Krem)

Description
An unidentified but reputedly very extensive cave where water is said -- but the meaning remains in the dark -- to flow »in and out« (Welling Thabah 1998.11.01 personal communication) was either not properly identified or consists of an imagined phantom cave feeding a spring of water (ca. 1tr/sec, 04.11.1998, 14h30) rising from impenetrable fissures and bedding planes. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi verb "lam" means »to lead, to bring« but the prefix "lam-" corresponds to the English suffix »-ish« (SINGH, N 1906: 110) and "byrnai" as such is not identified. SITUATION: About 500 m approximately north-east of Krem –>Wah Diengpian is an area of picturesque karst pillars and fallen boulders of sandy limestone where impenetrable fissures and bedding plane conduits were found in November 1998.
