LUM LAKHAM 1 (Brooks 2010) (Krem)
25.438300,92.590900
Description
One of initially five or several shafts (note 1) and later another four of which the sight of the cave entrances had been looked at. In one preliminary analysis based on very high velocity sightseeing, the deepest of these was measured at -21m and would be worth a closer inspection (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February). ETYMOLOGY: The origin and meaning of the recorded cave names -Krem Lumlakham- (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February) and -Krem Lum Lakham- (Arbenz, T 2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf) was not understood. It may represent a short form of -Krem Lum Shnong La Kham- or Cave Outside [the village of the] Three Fists (note 2) or, perhaps, Cave Outside [the village of the] Three Bridles (note 3). SITUATION 2010a: Brooks, S J (2010.02.18 Mss: Krem Lum Lakham (shaft) 1) created a circular reference according to which the entrance to the Krem Lakham was found in the unspecified Lakham Ara and has something to do with the framed number 161. SITUATION 2010b: Altogether five several shafts are to the North West of nowhere special and without identified spatial relation to each other (Anonymous et al. (2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February). SITUATION 2010c: Arbenz, T (2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf) indicates the location of the cave entrance to Krem Lum Lakham 1 near N25°26'18”: E092°35'27”: 839 m asl (WGS84) and thus 1.2 km in a direct line approximately ENE (0.43 km north, 1.1 km east) from the central road junction in the village of Umkyrpong (N25°26'04”: E092°34'47” (WGS84) and at linear distances of 225 m east from Krem Lakham (N25°26'19”: E092°35'19”: 839 m asl WGS84) and 110 m NNE from Krem Lum Lakham 2 (N25°26'14.5”: E092°35'26.5”: 845 m asl WGS84) or Krem Lum Lakham 3 (N25°26'15”: E092°35'26”: 845 m asl WGS84). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010a: Shaft - sink (Brooks, S J 2010.02.18 Mss: Krem Lum Lakham 1: Evalution). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2010b: Vertical rift contradicted by a sketch plan (without scale or north arrow) showing the top of a roundish funnel along with 1.5 DIA (Brooks 2010.02.18 Mss: Krem Lum Lakham 1: Description) where either the rim of the funnel or the shaft itself is an estimated 1 .5 m in diameter. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012: 5 m shaft and sink, too tight. No way on. Entered by Derek Pettiglio (ARBENZ, T 2012: 238).a and has something to do with the framed number 161. SITUATION 2010b: Altogether five several shafts are to the North West of nowhere special and without identified spatial relation to each other (Anonymous et al. Histoire
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2010.02.18: Hesrowin Lamurong and Koles Lamare guided Ksan Kupar 'Ronnie' Mawlong (interpreter), Erfan Fekri and Simon J. Brooks to the offhand created but unspecified Sintung Area to the North West of [nowhere special] for reconnaissance. Several shafts were located [sic! qua: looked at] including Krem Sintung [sic!] 1 and 2, Krem Lakham and Krem Lumlakham 1 and 2 (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February). Arbenz, T (2012.07.20 undated Meghalaya cave record ”Krem Lum Lakham 1” in: XSObjectsPala.doc) suggests Entered by D.Pettiglio but Derek Pettiglio had joined on 18th February 2010 Mark, Hellie and Andy to push side passages in the upstream section of Krem Dienjem (Anonymous et al. 2010.03.29 Mss: Diary (current) 2010.doc: 18th February).
