GHAOUAÏ KAND (Grotte)

A rock shelter (note 1) in the marble cliff face of a ravine without recognised name situated at a distance of about 2 km (along the road?) in an unspecified direction from -Tchagatéh Saraï- (note 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Two cave entrances —the one on the right-hand side is triangular in shape— give access to a high vaulted ante-chamber with many side passages and an inclined rocky ledge, about 3 m above the floor and approximately 3 m wide and 4 m long. On the left-hand side of the main cave entrance are cavities found of which one (about 2.5 m wide with an initially low ceiling that rises further inside to standing height) is some 7 or 8 m long. Here, on the right-hand side, drops water from the ceiling and forms speleothems: small stalactites and one fat but short stalagmite. On the right of this cavity one finds a small, circular excavation.
