UM IM CAVE 18 CLUSTERPOT

Several deep pots with bat trap coverings drop about 30 m. All are about 3-4 m diameter and all are in a 10 m radius of GPS reading in jungle cleared limestone karst (Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss -Um Im [deleted 17] / 18 | [deleted 19]- dated 17/2/08). IDENTITY: Little doubt remains that this confusion is yet another contribution to the meddled mess of pots called –>Laumanns' Pot, –>Neumann's Pot and –>Snowman's Pot has been intentionally created by Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss -Um Im [deleted 17] / 18 | [deleted 19]- dated 17/2/08). SITUATION 1: Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss) suggests a very unlikely starting point from a waystation at roadside N 25 21 52.1 E 092 31 43.6 and surprises with advicing to make way down pathway to location (note 1). SITUATION 2: According to the GPS position, which Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss) recorded habitually without caring for his measurements estimated precision error, this Um Im 18 (Sheen 2008) lies at linear distances of 22 m SE from Snowman's Pot but 12 m lower down 52 m SSW from Laumann's Pot but 56 m lower down, 62 m S from Naumann's Pot but 1 m higher up, and 417 m East from Krem –>Um Im 7 (the nearest of the Um Im entrances). CULTURAL HISTORY - Human use: A bat hunting ground where Sheen (2008.02.17 Mss) noticed bat traps (in Khasi: ”ka jinriam” bur also: ka jingriam). CAVE LIFE: Probably bats (Chiroptera) in rapidly decreasing numbers. 52 m SSW from Laumann's Pot but 56 m lower down, 62 m S from Naumann's Pot but 1 m higher up, and 417 m East from Krem –>Um Im 7 (the nearest of the Um Im entrances).
