Description
Not only an unspecified the main entrance (the one we were shown first and went in) (Brooks, S J 2012.08.23 Mss: Phlangloit 2 - Sorted) is characterised by an unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, and unidentified characteristics, but also is said to give access to a cave with currently four partly known cave entrances. Compare Krem –>Phlangloit 2, Krem –>Phlangloit 3, and Krem –>Phlangloit 4. ETYMOLOGY: The meaning and origin of the cave name recorded as Krem Plang Loit (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary) has not yet been discovered. For sure, however, the interesting -plang- is a stranger's version of the Khasi -ka phlang- (note 1) and the Khasi verb -loit- is known to translate as to untie; to undo; to take off (SINGH, N 1906: 119). Special care was taken to corrupt not only the name of the village of Phlangwanbroi but also that of the cave: Krem Loit, Plangwangbro DAVIDSON, Ross (2012); Brooks, Simon J (undated -Meghalaya 2012- Overview (Descent) V3.doc- forwarded 2012.06.23) Krem Plang Loit, Plangwanbroi Anonymous (2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). SITUATION 2012: The cave entrance to Krem Loit (sic!) is not only understood to lie in the village of Plangwangbro [sic!], formed in sandstone (Brooks, S J undated -Meghalaya 2012 - Overview (Descent) V3.doc- forwarded 2012.06.23) but also in an unidentified -taking distance- from the village of Plangwanbroi (sic!) or, more likely, from Phlangwanbroi (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012a: An anonymous cave visitor discovered that this cave contains not only a lengthwise measurable distance of 685.48 m but also relatively new passage of unknown age (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012b: Krem Phlangloit has actually got 4 entrances. Only the main entrance (the one we were shown first and went in) was fixed with a GPS location as the three others were found from inside. They consisted of a skylight window entrance and two sink entrances where the summer flood water enters that cave (Brooks, S J 2012.08.23 Phlangloit 2 Sorted). SPELEOMETRY: From a particularly provincial but quite erroneous point of view, the GSG members Fraser Simpson, Graham Marshall, Ross Davidson, Thomas Arbenz, Mark Tringham, Sharry Ghazy [sic! qua: Shahareh -Shary- Ghazy], Simon Brooks and Brian Kharpran Daly … achieved … [that] in the nearby village of Plangwangbro [sic! qua: Phlangwanbroi] … Krem Loit [sic! qua: Krem Phlangloit] was explored for 685 m (DAVIDSON, R 2012). On the other hand we are not only told about one Krem Lymbit, located in the village of Plangwangbro [sic!], formed in sandstone (note 2) but also that in the same village Krem Loit was explored for 685 m (Brooks, S J undated -Meghalaya 2012 - Overview (Descent) V3.doc- forwarded 2012.06.23).They consisted of a skylight window entrance and two sink entrances where the summer flood water enters that cave (Brooks, S J 2012.08.23 Phlangloit 2 Sorted). Histoire
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.13: Ksan Kupar 'Ronnie' Mawlong, Hiamdor Rapsang, Pedro Silva Pinto, Helen Blyth, Ryan P. Baker, Kyle Wayne Baker, and Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns were driven either by Kyrshan Thabah, Bolk Syntiew, or Devel Mawlong to Plangwanbroi (sic! qua: Phlangwanbroi), where they met an unidentified the Headman (no name mentioned), gave him a MAA letter and secured permission to explore caves in the area. The Headman then took Simon, Helen and Pedro to see another cave known as Krem Plang Loit that they then decided to fully explore, photograph and survey to yield 685.48 m of new passage (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary).
