This Kaftar Ghar (Pigeon Cave) or Kham Mar Ghar (Dragon Cave) is a 4 m long rift cave (2 m wide, 2 m high) which ascends till it becomes impenetrable due to a lowring ceiling (note 1). The cave is developed in a metamorphosed, crystalline limestone band sandwiched between schistes. The cave entrance lies at an elevation of approximately 1800 m asl (LINDBERG 1958: 113) and some 25 m above the Logar river (note 2), near a place called (in French transcription) Sang - Novichtéh (note 3) and about 10 km south of Kabul town. This Kaftar Ghar (Pigeon Cave) or Kham Mar Ghar (Dragon Cave) is a 4 m long rift cave (2 m wide, 2 m high) which ascends till it becomes impenetrable due to a lowring ceiling (note 1).
