Description
Two, mostly hand-made cave entrances (without identified shape, dimensions or character) give access to the second Krem [deleted: Wahrkhla] Warkhla (Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2), which was characterised a pothole (Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) or blind pothole (Brooks 2006 undated Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) or rift pot (Jarratt 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13/2/06) and deep pot (Arbenz, T 2006.05.21 Mss: Abstracts.xls) that yielded a selection of estimated or fabricated depths and lenegth (note 1). SITUATION 1: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) puts the 2nd Krem Warkhla in an unidentified spatial relation to the other caves called Krem Warkhla in the area and in an unspecified location somewhere on the south slopes of Lum Manar. It does not help to be directed to a point 15 m west [from an unspecified point] of a footpath [without GPS route] from Shnongrim to Kutsutiang when Kut Sutiang (N25°19'45”: E92°31'49”) itslf lies on the neighbouring (south) spur of the Shnongrim Ridge and the way from Shnongrim (N25°21'09”: E92°31'05”) to Kut Sutiang does not touch Lum Manar.SITUATION 2: Brooks (undated 2006 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) locates the second Krem Warkhla like the first and third one on south slope of Lum Manor (more likely: Lum Manar) in a certain Wan Ruio area of map (note 2). SITUATION 3: According to the GPS positions recorded, Krem Warkhla 2 lies on the eastern flank of the Shnongrim Ridge and at linear distances of 70 m west by north from the first Krem Warkhla and 94 m east by south from the third Krem Warkhla. CAVE DESCRIPTION 1: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) recorded a small cave entrance [without dimensions and facing an unidentified direction]. Squeeze leads to narrow 4 m rift and boulder chamber with shaft. Adjacent dug open entrance leads to 5 m deep pot also leading to chamber [without dimensions] where a dug squeeze leads to head o 30 m blind pot. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2: Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13/2/06) recorded a squeeze in to the head of a short ladder climb down into a boulder chamber with an apparently massive shaft in the floor. Digging will be necessary to access this and also to make an easier entrance. Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 14/2/06) adds a dug open new entrance descends a nice 5 m pot to a boulder floor far too suspect to disturb. The pot belwow looked and sounded very deep and promising. Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 15/2/06): Squeezing over a possibly dodgy rock bridge this turns out to be safe way down to yet another blind mud floor at -30 m. Total depth 39 m. CAVE DESCRIPTION 3: JARRATT (2006: 9-10) … had squeezed [2006.02.13] down into a loose chamber with a boulder and mud floor hanging over a deep pot and today [2006.02.14] an easier entrance was dug to reach this point but the big pot was not rigged due to fear of major collapse of the flor, walls and ceiling … Neil [Pacey] was dispatched through the horror story to rig the big pitch. This shat out at -30 m. TACKLE: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) lists 5 [deleted: 10 m] ladder and Brooks (undated 2006 Mss: Amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) adds tether / belay and more than 40 m rope if descending blind pot. PROSPECTS: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) judges none but Brooks (undated 2006 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2), on the other hand, says nil. CAVE LIFE: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) lists bats [Chiroptera], Heteropoda [i.e. spiders, Araneae: Arachnidae, probably Sparassidae: Heteropodina] while Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13/2/06) narrates how a bat and large Heteropoda were seen.or, walls and ceiling … Neil [Pacey] was dispatched through the horror story to rig the big pitch. This shat out at -30 m. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2006.02.11, trip 1: Evermore Sukhlain shows the entrance to Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2; 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 11/2/06), Terence 'Terry' M. Whitaker and Neil Pacey: With plenty of time left we planned to to search for the possible resurgence south of Lum Bir but on the way we met Evermore who led us to three new sites and a fourth which may have already been explored last year. 2006.02.13, trip 2: Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13/2/06): … where I squeezed in to the head of a short ladder climb down into a boulder chamber with an apparently massive shaft in the floor. Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) confirms the cave was partially explored by Tony Jarratt on 13/2/06 to head of deep pot. ANONYMOUS (Brown et al. 2006): Monday 13th February … Terry, J.Rat and Jayne went … to Krem Warkhla 2 where J.Rat squeezed through a short laddered rift into a boulder chamber with a massive shaft in the flor. Ongoing lead. 2006.02.14, trip 3: Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 14/2/06) and Henry Rockcliff dug open a new entrance and descended a nice 5 m pot with my Lyon tape ladder. We started gardening the head of the big pitch but decided that the boulder [bolder?] floor on which we were sitting was far too suspect to disturb. According to Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2), however, the cave was Finished off by N.P. [Neil Pacey] and T.J. on 14/2/06 while Brooks (undated 2006 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 2) opines it was Jarrat and Pacey who fully explore and [deleted: servey] survey and descend 30 m blind pot. According to ANONYMOUS (Brown, Mark W. et al. 2006), J.Rat and Henry went on to Krem Warkhla 2 where they dug an easier entrance and examined the top of a large shaft. Suspect boulders drove them to the adjacent Krem Warkhla 1 … 2006.02.15, trip 4: Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 15/2/06): After collecting kit from Krem ir 2 we [Anthony 'Tony' R. Jarratt and Neil Pacey] headed on downhill to Krem Warkhla 2 where Neil commenced rigging the pitch. Having squeezed over the possibly dodgy rock bridge he reported it to be safe and carried on down to yet another blind mud floor at -30 m. The cave was surveyed out and, pissed off with the area, we marched back up to Krem Bir 2 where the rest of the kit was gathered up. Well laden down we decided to rig Krem Synrang Ngap … but ended up finding Krem –>Tyrtong Ryngkoo.
