Location
Tham Phraya Phahon is located on the hill above a wat 20km from Kanchanaburi. Take the H3429 from the town centre, cross the river and follow it for 8.8km. At the junction with the H3209 turn right onto the H3209. After 7.7km the road turns 90¦ right (north) across the river. 250m after the river turn left (west) around the south side of the hill and the wat is on the right after 1.5km.
Description
The entrance is closed with a sliding steel anti-bat gate, but not locked. The cave is a very active meditation site and a very impressive example of a religious cave with a very large number of statues. All floor areas were tiled. Everything was very clean due to good housekeeping and the effective anti-bat grills. The cave is estimated to be 80m long, 15m wide 10m high.
