Description

An estimated 4 m wide and 2 m high cave entrance (unidentified shape) was not only understood to face an unidentified direction and to be somewhat obstructed by unspecified boulders, but also to give access to a relatively short breakdown cave (Brown, M W 2002.02.22 Mss: Unknown 22/02/02), which was initially an estimated 30 m or 40 m long and allowed to survey (sic!) the lump sum of twenty-eight (28) lengthwise measured metres. SITUATION: At an estimated distance of 200 m approximately north-east from the cave entrance to Krem –>Umtngier. SETTING: The entrance of this relatively short breakdown cave lies in a jungle clad depression directly adjacent to the northern side of the playing field (cricket & football field) near a small hamlet (note 1) at a road junction (note 2) in the Shaktiman track connecting the villages of Umlynsha / Umlingsha (note 3) and Umlatdoh (note 4) (Brown 2002.02.22 Mss -Unknown- 22/02/02). CAVE DESCRIPTION: An about 4 m wide and 2 m high cave entrance, partilly obstructed by boulders, to a cave passage without distinct streambed that drops with two or three 2 m steps to a terminal boulder choke. The walls expose razor-sharp fluted limestone and the floor is covered with loose boulders of limestone and sandstone.lly obstructed by boulders, to a cave passage without distinct streambed that drops with two or three 2 m steps to a terminal boulder choke. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1995 December: The Umlatdoh Sardar (village headman) mentions Synrang –>Manick Sati, a jungle clad cave entrance about 200 m approximately north-east of Krem –>Umtngier. 2002.02.21: Daniel B. Harries and Martin 'The Lump' Groves, assisted by the photograph takers Mark W. Brown and Shelley A Diengdoh, entered the entrance to an unidentified cave (about 200 m approximately north-east of Krem –>Umtngier) and claimed to have 'surveyed' (sports caver standards) a lump sum of 28 m but not a trace of anything reminiscent of a cave plan.
