Description

There are numerous cave entrances to supposedly natural caves (note 1) in very dry hills composed of what appears to be limestone. SITUATION: At a travelling distance of 35 km (note 2) south of Bala Murghab (N35°34'59”: E63°19'40” WGS84 on AIMS sheet PI41-03), in a large mountain range on the right-hand (western) side of the road to Qalay-i- Naw (N34°59': E63°07'30” on AIMS sheet PI41-07), and at a place called Tang- Pol Kohnéh (note 3) where the road changes back (or had changed back in the 1950ies) to the left bank of the river. CAVE POTENTIAL - Prospects: Knut Lindberg visited and explored several cave entrances without finding a grotte véritable (a substantial cave) and local informants comfirmed they were not aware about caves in this area but told Dr. Lindberg about a cave at a place further south, which Lindberg recorded under the title Darréh- Boum (see: Cave at –>Darrah-i- Bum). There are numerous cave entrances to supposedly natural caves (note 1) in very dry hills composed of what appears to be limestone.
