QAL'EH-YE MALIK, Barina (Caves at)

A series of man-made rock-chambers (note 1), including one (3 m wide, 2 to 3 m high, and 14 m long) with a wet cave entrance, surprised Dr. Knut LINDBERG (1958: 133, 1961a: 23) with a significant cave fauna. SITUATION: The rock chambers lie at the same altitude of 860 m but opposite of –>Kaftar Khaneh at Barina, Qal'eh-ye Malik), some 30 m up in the cliff face above the right (southern) bank of the gorge called Tang- Qal'eh- Malik (note 2), and about a kilometre from the mouth of the gorge opposite of Kalata Barina (note 3). CAVE LIFE: LINDBERG (1958: 133) records to have collected Isopoda, Diplopoda, Chilopoda, Blattida, Gryllida, Coleoptera (Staphylinida, Elaterida, Tenebrionida, Ptinida), Formicida, Diptera (Sciarida), Scorpion, Pseudoscorpion, Arachnida (Araneida, Solifuga).
