Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

The third cave called Warkhla is an estimated 14 m deep rift pot (Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3 or Fallen Tiger Cave) or a draughting rift reputedly 11.7 m deep (Jarratt 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13) or 12 m deep (JARRATT 2006: 8) unless it is 14 m deep (JARRATT 2006: 20; Arbenz, T 2006.05.21 Mss: Abstracts.xls). SITUATION 1: Jarratt (2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3) puts the 3rd Krem Warkhla in an unidentified spatial relation to the other caves called Krem Warkhla and in an unspecified location somewhere on the south slope of Lum Manar. SITUATION 2: Brooks (undated 2006 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3) locates the third Krem Warkhla like the first and second one on south slope of Lum Manor (sic! for: Lum Manar) in a certain Wan Ruio area of map (i.e. Wah Ralo) and adds little but deceiving confidence with placing the cave entrance not even near but at above GPS point (confusing a GPS position with a GPS point) when the relevant waypoint 16 was recorded with a carelessness not even arriving at a proper name. SITUATION 3: According to the GPS positions recorded lies Krem Warkhla 2 on the eastern flank of the Shnongrim Ridge and at linear distances of 164 m west by north from the first Krem Warkhla and 94 m west by north from the second Krem Warkhla. CAVE DESCRIPTION 1 (Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3): Rift pot with c.10 m deep holes in floor. Several entrances, one of which draughts strongly [air flow, air current]. Ladders required, not SRT. 11.7 m pitch CAVE DESCRIPTION 2 (Jarratt 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 11/2/06): Krem Warkhla 3 (Fallen Tiger Cave) is strongly draughting. CAVE DESCRIPTION 3 (Jarratt 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13/2/06): An 11.7 m tight rift to where it closes down. PROSPECTS: Jayne Stead (2006.02.13 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3) recorded [deleted: Nil] Possible dig at bottom and Brooks (2006.02.13 Mss: Amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem arkhla 3) adds a draughting rift. Limited. CAVE LIFE: Jayne Stead (2006.02.13 Mss: Amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3) recorded spiders 3 [Arachnidae: Aranea: Sparassidae: conf. Heteropoda sp.], cave crickets.arkhla 3) adds a draughting rift. Limited. CAVE LIFE: Jayne Stead (2006.02.13 Mss: Amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3) recorded spiders 3 [Arachnidae: Aranea: Sparassidae: conf. Heteropoda sp.], cave crickets.

History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2006.02.11, trip 1: Evermore Sukhlain (note 1) shows the entrance to Anthony 'Tony' Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 11/2/06), Terence 'Terry' M. Whitaker and Neil Pacey (Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3): With plenty of time left we planned to to search for the possible resurgence south of Lum Bir but on the way we met Evermore who led us to three new sites and a fourth which may have already been explored last year [Jarratt 2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 11/2/06]. 2006.02.13, trip 2: Stead (2006.02.13 Mss amendments to Jarratt 2006.02.11 Mss: Krem Warkhla 3): Descended by Jayne Stead [note 2] 13/2/06. Jarratt (2006.03.04 Mss: Cave Log, vol. XIII: 13) narrates from the same day how Krem Warkhla 3 was Jayne's [Jayne Stead's] chance for glory when she laddered an 11.7 m tight rift to where it unfortunately closed down. This was a pity as the strong draught indicated big cave below. A nearby cave [note 3] had a bolt at the top somust have been explored last year. JARRATT (2006: 8) explains how Jarratt, Pacey & Whitaker continued their fruitless quest for for an easy way down into the fabled Krem Synrang Ngap extensions somewhere below, finding a couple of promising pots and sending Jayne [Stead] down Krem Warkhla 3, which became too tight at -12 m. ANONYMOUS (Brown et al. 2006): Monday 13th February … Terry, J.Rat and Jayne went … to Krem Warkhla 3. Jayne descended a tight rift of 12 m, which led to a small pretty chamber with no way on.
