Location

The wat is 1.5 km west of the H201, 3 km south of the junction with the H2250. It is signed off the highway and a good road leads to this large wat. The buildings can be seen from the H201. Approximately 100 steps lead up to the large building built in front of the cave. Martin Ellis - 12/03/2020

Description

Inside the building the cave is to the left. The main shrine is to the right with the majority of the cave to the right. The cave is tiled and lit throughout. The passage leads to a reclining Buddha in an dead end. The way on to the main chamber is down some steps. This chamber (20m diameter) has a large Buddha and a skylight entrance high above.

Snails:- Pollicaria mouhoti monochroma Kongim & Panha, 2013 (probably on surface in temple grounds) The wat has the last known colony in Thailand of c. 100 Rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta). The wat is in the hybridization zone between Rhesus and long-tailed macaques (M. fascicularis). There is also one male pig-tailed macaque who was introduced to the troop and is now the alpha-male. There are hybrids between the pig-tailed macaque and Rhesus monkeys.
