Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation) is famous for having made Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker unhappy because it is not only a much less inviting cave entrance full of vines, slippery rock, bits of litter and masses of cobwebs but also invites to climb down to breakdown, a stream and a large spider which had been stationed there to control the intersection of the entrance area with a perennially active stream cave passageETYMOLOGY: The origin, history and meaning of the cave name Krem Klar (Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker in: Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary) has not yet been discovered. It seems to be a corruption of the standard Khasi cave name -Krem Kliar [Lum]“ or Cave [on the] Crest [of the Hill] (note 1). SITUATION: Unknown. On the one-hand side in an unspecified setting but on the other in a unspecified spatial relation to an unidentified, so-called the next village [note 2] (Aonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary, entry Friday 10th February 2012). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2012: The cave was understood as a training device which allows sports cavers not only to exercise rigging a short hand line to descend into the entrance but also to negotiate breakdown, a stream and a large spider along with the passage downstream crawling through mud to a short climb over rock that [sic! qua: that lead after] several more meters [sic! qua: metres] to a point where all leads closed out [note 3] in addition to the passage upstream through more crawls (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). CAVE POTENTIAL: Upstream passage continues for a way (Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker in: Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). CAVE CLIMATE: Either Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker noticed in a known section of the upstream branch of Krem Klar on the 10th February that there seemed to occur a case of no air is blowing at an unspecfied time (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). CAVE LIFE: Pedro Silva Pinto saw on 10th February 2012 somewhere inside the so-called Krem Klar not only noticed the lair of a giant spider (Arachnidae: Aranea: Sparassidae: conf. Heteropoda sp.) but also heard what Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker described as a kind of squeal [that] rang out in the dark, high-pitched and piercing like a little girl whose ice cream just fell upon the ground (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). A digital photograph captioned Krem Klar, Mawsynram (online: lpn-espeleo.org/images/meghalaya2012/P1060334_Kyle…) ascribed to Kyle Baker (Kyle Wayne-Baker) once had shown several rows of larval fungus gnats' threads (Diptera: conf. Mycetophilidae) hanging aligned on slacklines below a cave ceiling above sedimentary accumulations (obviously the result of fluvial deposition and seemingly rather sandy than loamy) of which the surface is scattered over with dozens (ifnot hundreds) of conical, relatively large sized worm casts, apparently in the range of 5 cm to 10 cm in diameter and an estimated 5 cm high.fied time (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.10, trip 1: Unidentified knowledgeable people familiar with the area (no names mentioned) stepped out of their way to drive (the driver was probably either Kyrshan Thabah, Bolk Syntiew, or Devel Mawlong) and lead Ryan, Kyle, Pedro (Pedro Silva Pinto, Ryan P. Baker, and Kyle Wayne Baker) into a cave of which the name was recorded as Krem Klar (or so). On this occasion, Ryan P. Baker and / or Kyle Wayne Baker narrate a tale according to which they Go to Krem Klar (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary). 2012.02.12, trip 2, Simon J. Brooks, Ksan Kupar 'Ronnie' Mawlong, Andre Abele, and Ryan P. Baker arrived in the village only to find that although they had visited the cave two days before they did not have permission from either the headman or the village committee. After some discussion the headman agreed to call a village meeting as soon as possible. Walking back to the main road the team flagged down a bus and went back to the Mawsynra HQ where they had lunch and drank some beer. The team ate spicy peanuts lightly seasoned with oil, coriander, onion, chilli, and a pinch of salt. Andre carved a wooden spoon (Anonymous 2012.03.10 Mss: Meghalaya 2012 Team 2 Diary).
