SAR PAYENDA KHEL, 1st (Cave on the)

Three caves in conglomerate (note 1) are situated on the right-hand side of the road from Surobi (note 2) to Golbahar (note 3), at an unspecified distance south of Tagab (note 4), and on a -sar- (hill or mountain), which lies at or above the village of Panda Khil (LINDBERG 1962a: 6) which appears to correspond to the village indicated as Payendakhel on AIMS sheet PI41-07 (May 2002 edition) at N34°44'24”: E69°40'29” (WGS84, nima.mil/geonames accessed 28.05.2004). CAVE DESCRIPTION: The largest of the three caves (7 m wide, 3 to 4 m high, 20 m long) contained important cave fauna, not much of humidity, a floor of stones and soil, goat droppings and rat excrements. CAVE LIFE: LINDBERG (1962: 7) collected Isopoda, Thysanura, Neuroptera (Crocini), Lepidoptera, Coleoptera (Ptinidae, larval Tenebrionidae), and Araneida.
